Meet Brett

My name is Brett Hansen, I am a competitive natural strength athlete; competing in both Powerlifting and SuperLeague. Cardio makes me cry, but I’ve found that lifting heavy things makes people first doubt themselves, then want to level up in real life. In 2017, I took first place in the 100% RAW World Powerlifting Championship in the 83kg Open class. Unfortunately, I’m now always asked to help people move… which I can never seem to refuse!

I am also a grower of people. I have been a personal trainer for over 6 years in Calgary, Alberta, driven by a passion to strengthen people’s bodies and belief in themselves. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing others achieve what they never thought possible. I firmly believe that I am on this earth to challenge and inspire others to better themselves. I know first-hand what it feels like to be weak, overweight, lethargic. I also know what it’s like to feel strong, athletic, and full of energy! Each day, no matter where I am, or who I meet, I look to leave a positive, lasting impression which will plant a seed of self-growth and development in others. If I can cause someone to start thinking about and taking steps towards positive change, my day is made.

Favorite way to sweat

Lifting more than 5 reps hahaha! But seriously, training for SuperLeague. There’s nothing like training to hit your heaviest triples, (squat, bench, deadlift) from a cold start with only 12 minutes to do so in each lift, to get your heart pounding as a strength athlete. I love pushing myself to toe the line between success and sheer terror in order to see what I’m truly capable of.

Place to visit or travel

Cape Town, South Africa! There’s no place like home! Beautiful weather, incredible beaches, friendly people, delicious food, and a beautiful mountain….what more could you ask for!? Cape Town is a place I will never get tired of visiting.

Extra Motivation

I find motivation in the failures of both myself and others. I know it may sound crazy at first, but it’s true! Success on your first attempt at something is a fluke. There is nothing more inspiring and motivating than witnessing or being alongside someone who is pushing themselves to the point of failure and seeing them break, regroup, and press on. Think about it. Failing after giving your all. Getting back up and dusting yourself off. Strategizing your next attempt. Giving your all, yet again with your goal in mind, remaining focused, and eventually succeeding! That’s what separates average and extraordinary! That one more move of trying again. Failures followed by action are the best teachers and trophies of success.

Multi-vitamins! There’s nothing worse than getting sick while destroying your central nervous system during a heavy strength cycle. When pushing your body to its limits, you’ve got to feed it for success with proper nutrition and supplementation.
