Meet Rachel

Though I spent my early years as a competitive figure skater, there was a time in my life where I really didn’t enjoy anything else when it came to sports or fitness. It was during my 3rd year at University (where I was studying Kinesiology), I decided it was time to hit the gym.

When I started I couldn’t even do a single push-up, but after a year of hard work, I graduated to Olympic weightlifting movements like the snatch and clean and jerk.

From there I was hooked. My first competition (without a coach or much experience) resulted in a 5th place finish. That’s when I decided to get serious and began training with Christine Girad, head coach at Kilophile weightlifting club; I qualified for provincials in the 58kg category, and placed 3rd! Currently, I’m training to qualify for nationals as a 63kg lifter.

Outside of lifting, you can find me working as a Skating Instructor for the City of Surrey. I’m also a Personal Trainer, Crossfit Level 1 Coach, and Registered Kinesiologist at Crossfit South Surrey, and certified in Kettlebell Instruction and Triggerpoint Therapy.

I think I am the only one that can lift to COUNTRY

Place to visit or travel

I haven’t been, but I really want to go to Hawaii and Greece; my favourite places that I have been are London and Disneyland!

Extra Motivation

I always try to be better than I was the day before!  The progress is sometimes slow or nonexistent in weightlifting, so I make sure I am better at something every time I train!

FAVORITE SUPPLEMENTS

Anabolic Sate by Nutrabolics
ON Energy Protein, Cinnamon Bun Flavor

Breakfast

OATMEAL EVERYDAY! With ON Energy Protein Cinnamon Bun Flavor, drizzled with Walden Farms syrup, banana, blueberries, and of course PEANUT BUTTER

Snack

MyBar ProSupps, Apples and Peanut Butter, Hard Boiled Eggs

Lunch

I go through phases. I’ll eat the same thing for about a month then get sick of it. For the past two weeks its been ‘Fold It Flat Out Wraps’ cut in half and used as tortillas with scrambled egg whites and one egg, prosciutto pan fried, and goat cheese. AMAZING! And a side of asparagus and shredded hash browns!

Dinner

Extra Lean Ground Beef Patties with a fried egg and rice and lots of broccoli! Or chicken breast mixed with the thigh in souvlaki marinade with rice and vegetable and goat tzatziki (I can’t have dairy!)
