Emily
Bell

CALGARY, AB

Hi there!

My name is Emily and I’m incredibly excited to represent Reflex Supplements. I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, and was a city kid until I moved to Red Deer for university.  I completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, became a Registered Nurse, and spent the first few years of my career working in rural acute cares, Emergency Rooms, and labour and delivery (and fell in love with the country!).

I developed a passion for exercise during my degree and a few years ago decided to take the next step into the bodybuilding world. Initially, I wanted to prove to myself that I could set a goal and achieve it. Now three years later, I’ve competed in 6 shows at the regional and international level, placing top 2 in my height class on a Pro Qualifier stage.

I absolutely love the industry, the challenges, the lifestyle, the people, and the mental challenge of the sport. Someday my aspiration is that prestigious IFBB pro card, but for now I’m passionate about helping other women achieve their full potential through online coaching. I currently work as an RN with LimitedEdition Health & Fitness, helping women achieve fat loss, body recomposition, mindset shifts, nutritional counselling, and functional fitness.

Favorite way to sweat

I absolutely love lifting heavy weights at the gym! That would be my go-to activity (in particular, back day is my favourite day), although I also thoroughly enjoy downhill skiing at my favourite mountain, Kicking Horse. I can ski any run on that hill, including steep shoots and runs that you have to repel into!

Playlist

I’m a sucker for remixes and mashups of songs. Pop, classic rock, 90’s, early 2000’s, all together! One of my favourite artists is also Skillet.

Place to visit or travel

My favourite way to travel is to immerse myself into the culture of wherever I’m going. I don’t often stay at hotels unless I have to, and you’ll never catch me at an all-inclusive. Instead, I love selecting Airbnbs that have character and spending time with local people. One of my favourite places that I recently travelled to was Prague, Czech Republic.

Extra Motivation

Motivation isn’t there every day! I have made exercising part of my habits and routines, and that tends to carry me through even when I don’t have motivation. However, I find that looking at photos of myself from a few years ago to remind myself how far I’ve come motivates me to continue pursuing new levels.

FAVORITE SUPPLEMENTS

I always have chocolate and vanilla flavoured Rule 1 casein on hand! They are easily my go-to. In the mornings, I also have my xtend BCAAs, and Allmax glutamine, citrulline, carnitine, and arginine.

rule-1

Breakfast

I actually often have this breakfast, it’s my absolute favourite! Rule 1 chocolate casein, oats, 2 packets of Splenda, blueberries, and hot water. It makes a delicious bowl of oatmeal in the morning and is really yummy with some cinnamon sprinkled on top!

Lunch

I’m going to sound cliché, but my go to lunch is chicken and rice. Honestly, I feel the best when I eat nice clean food both mentally and physically. Typically I’ll have some salt and Frank’s hot sauce on top!

Dinner

Generally, at home I’ll stick to some pretty clean foods like chicken, wild game, fish, rice, potato, and vegetables. But on the odd occasion my husband and I will eat out for dinner. My go to type of food is sushi! I could probably eat sushi every day of my life and never get tired of it, although I know not everyone shares that love of raw fish… haha!

Snack

My absolute favourite snack is just straight up peanut butter (Kirkland brand is my favourite!). I’m talking straight out of the jar, onto a spoon, and into my mouth. There’s nothing quite like it!

Healthy Dessert

I love to get creative! When I was in prep for a show this year I was given only protein and vegetables for a few snacks, so had to get creative! I came up with carrot cake:

Blend together 4oz steamed carrots and 5oz egg whites. Add 1/8 tsp baking powder, 2 packs Splenda, ¼ tsp vanilla extract, and sprinkles of nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice and mix until combined. Put into small glass baking dish and bake in the oven at 375F for 30 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean. For the icing, mix around 1oz Greek yogurt together with 7g vanilla protein powder and 1 packet Splenda. Wait until the carrot cake has cooled, then spread icing on top and enjoy! If needed, you can also add a few tablespoons of flour into the egg/carrot part to turn the cake into more of a cake-like texture and less of a quiche-like texture.
