Meet Meagan

My name is Meagan and I’m a 26 year old bikini competitor, but I’m really just a science nerd in a bikini girl’s body! I love reading research papers and keeping up to date on all the latest sport-science info.

I had originally gotten into fitness because I was having some health issues. I found myself the proud owner of a few different chronic illnesses and I figured no one was going to get rid of them for me.

After working out on my own for a while, I decided I wanted to gain a little more knowledge and I signed up for a personal training course. It really helped me understand my own body and has now been able to help me improve the lives of others through my personal training business.

While I was completing my personal training certification, I came across some fitness accounts on Instagram

and a few of them were bikini competitors! I didn’t know that division even existed and had always thought bodybuilding was something that was unattainable as a natural athlete. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I started my competition journey but I have developed such a passion for the sport. The challenge of preparing for a show is just as amazing as show day itself because it really shows you what you’re made of!

It’s been a long, and sometimes bumpy road to get where I am today with my health, career, and competitions, but I wouldn’t change a thing!

Favorite way to sweat

Weightlifting is my absolute favourite of course, but hiking is my other love.

Pretty much anything from Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, or G-Eazy. I’m always down for some ACDC as well!

Place to visit or travel

I haven’t traveled as much as I’d like to, but out of the places I have been, Jamaica was my favourite.  We do have Hawaii planned for this fall, and hopefully Japan sometime soon, as well!

Extra Motivation

Is it cliche to say myself?  I’ve been through some gnarly health issues (my early 20’s were spent in and out of hospitals and doctor’s offices!), and whenever I’m feeling unmotivated I just think about how far I’ve come and if I can go through all that, I can get through whatever I’m going through. I also find amazing motivation at my gym (shout out to West Coast Iron) – the vibe is unreal and the people there offer unparalleled support to each other when we’re struggling.

  • Protein, protein, and more protein!
  • I’ve also jumped on the creatine train lately and I don’t think it’ll be leaving my stack any time soon.
James Arko

Scrambled egg + egg whites with some low-fat shredded cheese on top, oatmeal (or sometimes pancakes because who doesn’t love pancakes), and some fruit (usually a kiwi or an apple).

Turkey meatballs, brown basmati rice, and some veggies sautéed in a pan with a little hot sauce!

Ground beef, onions, and bell peppers all fried up with some cajun seasoning and salsa, smashed mini potatoes with seasoning salt, and a little more low-fat shredded cheese (because cheese is life).

Apples with PB will always be a staple.

Healthy Dessert

  • Plain Greek yogurt + your favourite protein powder = a delicious and sweet low carb snack (pop it in the freezer for a little bit if you want Fro-yo!).
  • Rice Krispie squares with added protein!  Just mix in a scoop of protein in a bowl with the dry cereal before adding it all to the marshmallows – just mix it all up and press in to a pan like normal, and voilà!
